farmhouse on veranda

By |2019-05-09T15:04:55+00:00April 24th, 2019|Design & Decor, Garden/Floral, Homes|

The latest cover of Veranda really stopped me in my tracks.  It reminded me of Ginny Magher's cover from 1999.  After all these years, I am still in awe at the charm of a French farmhouse, constant and timeless.. Yes, this is a farmhouse. lol.  A 13,000 square foot farmhouse, bordering a pear orchard on an island in the Rhone River. Designer Susan Bednar Long was hired by long time clients to transform, renovate and redesign. Although Long made all decisions on her own for previous projects, Shauna, the owner, was involved every step of the way for this one. The pair worked closely with a renowned local architect, Alexandre Lafourcade.  Let's take a look inside... The dining room is spectacular. I have plates surrounding a doorway in my house, and I was beginning to think maybe the look was outdated. But after seeing this, I'm in love once again. More plates.. And the [...]

Just revisited this post from April 2011... Thought it would be fun to repost. It was really a fun time!   April 2011 Turns out there's more to Augusta than azaleas and Tiger Woods... Yes, the Masters in Augusta was amazing and Tiger had all in a frenzy by noon on Sunday.  Here are a few fun facts about the event provided by a female non-golfer. - While walking to the gate and upon entering the event, visitors are greeted by intense lovers of Jesus.  We pass "Master's Corner" a tricky play on words, and then are accused along the way by extreme activists who are convinced we are sinners.  I'm not sure what the correlation between attending the Masters and being a sinner is, but nevertheless, they were adamant. - What you've heard about the azaleas and magnolias is true - truly magnificent. - People who attend the Masters [...]

More condo pics! Not that much has changed since my last post, so some of these are repetitive... Still waiting on window treatments and bedding. At this point, I'm just happy to be where it's sunny instead of snowy.  Here is the entry again... Chair in the Master bedroom. I love it! I love the pastel colors in the living room! Still waiting on glass shelves... You guys it is SO SUNNY down here. We need window treatments desperately... The guest bedroom is so darn cute with the green beds with white nailheads... Need: Shams and dust skirts This cute chair was delivered for the guest room... Guest bathroom TV needs to be hung... I am so happy down here. Next week, I will be back in Omaha in the cold and snow... It is so hard to imagine when you are at the beach!

naples condo

By |2019-05-08T19:10:03+00:00January 28th, 2019|Design & Decor, Homes|

If you have been following my instagram stories, you might be expecting this post. Although it is still a work in progress, there is enough completed to share some photos. I'll explain what is still to come as we go along... The entry has the same chest and mirror from 25 years ago! Some things are not worth replacing, and these pieces have stood the test of time. I should have prefaced the images by saying it is next to impossible to take photos during the day in this condo. The sunlight pours in the windows, and we do not have window treatments yet, so it is sort of like living in literal heaven. The coffee table is also a remnant of the old decor... Still does the trick in my opinion. I adore the console we found. It's very old and from Spain. We actually saw it in the [...]

aptware for sale

By |2019-05-16T20:57:00+00:00December 20th, 2018|Entertaining, Shopping|

As many of you know, my obsession with aptware is one of the main reasons I opened my shop online. I made it my mission to find it and sell it! I have since found several vendors and have fulfilled oh so many orders. It is still fairly hard to find in the US, and we often have to wait extended periods of time, and deal with translation issues, shipping issues, and so forth, but dreams have come true for many happy customers.   It all started with this image from Carolyne Roehm. I loved everything about this table, but the aptware really stood out. I have posted and referred to it many times. I can also special order those monogrammed napkins if anyone is interested.      Looks like Aerin also has a set of these beauties!   Barry Dixon posted these pics from Thanksgiving... Love it in brown!! Charlotte [...]

minimal christmas decor

By |2019-05-07T16:39:33+00:00December 15th, 2018|Holiday|

You guys I'm not putting up a tree this year, and I'm having serious ornament envy seeing other people decorating their trees! But still, I am ok with it. It's going to be fine. I've convinced myself of this.  This is a post sharing my minimal Christmas decor. The kitchen/ family room houses most of the items that made it out of the Christmas Box this year...       I love this gingerbread man tray from our dear family friends. We keep our family Christmas cards in it from years past...    The living room has white poinsettia and stockings...     I did more outside decorating than inside this year. I forgot to put greens over this stone piece!   The dining room looks festive enough...       Those green plants were brought in from my patio at the end of the summer.. Still going strong!   Having fun playing [...]

for the love of ira

By |2019-05-10T03:04:39+00:00December 2nd, 2018|Artists|

Many of you are familiar with my Ira Yeager obsession. I have done several posts featuring Ira Yeager, and thanks to my loyal following, I have been contacted numerous times about paintings for sale.  The end of this post features a list of all past Ira Yeager posts with links, but first, let's take a look at my growing collection.   My first painting is perfection in my living room. Love the apples in the tree, the green grass, and the floral wreath on the cow... You can see another painting in the hall to the right, and there's another in the hall on the left! Also love the writing and her fan... Number two is the cow in my family room. This is probably my favorite painting. With the tangerines around his neck? And the frog? Number three came from a reader who emailed me because she was moving and [...]

office redo and more

By |2019-05-08T17:41:28+00:00November 28th, 2018|Design & Decor|

You guys are the best. I have definitely cut back on posting on my blog, and it's always nice (and surprising) to know that people notice! Thank you for your emails wondering where I am and what the heck is going on!  If you want to keep in closer contact, I am much more attentive to my instagram account and you can follow me there ~ @thefrenchtangerine.  But for now, here are a few updates! I ordered fabric for my birthday back in July to cover these wing chairs in my office. The fabric showed up in October, and the chairs have finally returned!   But first, a quick story about the fabric. It's called Malabar by Colefax and Fowler, and it may be my all-time favorite fabric. Dan Carithers used it a lot, and I copied. I have it in tan on a barrel back wing chair in my living [...]
